Jerome Thompson, 31, of Pamela Avenue, Old Harbour is facing charges of shop breaking and larceny after illegally entering the popular eatery on West Street during the wee hours of April 8, 2020.
Video surveillance footage showed Thompson entering the premises between the hours of 12 midnight and 1:00 am and removed a cash register valued in excess of $100,000 and other items.
However, swift investigation by the police saw Thompson being nabbed on the same day by detectives attached to the Old Harbour Criminal Investigative Bureau (CIB).
“Jerome Thompson later escorted the police in bushes located at Skelton Drive, Old Harbour where the stolen cash register was recovered,” Detective Constable Cherrick Dorah stated in a report. “The same item was pointed out by the complainant at the Old Harbour Police Station in the presence of Jerome Thompson.”
Proprietor of Kaluga Group, Adrian Samuda was relief and happy that the police were able to recover the stolen items and catch the culprit in such a short time.
“I must commend the Old Harbour police for their swift response, professionalism, and the fact that they were able to arrest the perpetrator the same day,” Samuda said.
